*Acoctli is the Mexican Indigenous Nahuatl name of a prized plant used by the ancient Toltec and Mexica tribes as food, medicine, and protective emblem. After many failed attempts to establish it in European climates, in 1789 it was finally hybridized into today’s beloved garden dahlia flower and is my personal symbol of adaptation, survival, and the pursuit for beauty..
